Breaking Barriers in Sport
Sport empowers individuals, builds communities, and fosters personal growth. Yet, women continue to face barriers in participation, leadership, and visibility. The Padel Federation of Ireland (PFI) is committed to changing this by ensuring equal opportunities for women in padel, aligning with Sport Ireland’s Women in Sport Policy to drive meaningful progress.
A Commitment to Equality
PFI is dedicated to promoting gender balance across all areas of the sport:
- Equal Access – Ensuring women have the same opportunities as men in facilities, coaching, and competition.
- Leadership & Governance – Increasing female representation in coaching, officiating, and decision-making roles.
- Athlete Welfare – Prioritising the safety, health, and well-being of female players.
- Visibility & Promotion – Amplifying the achievements of women in padel and ensuring equal media coverage.
- Research & Data – Using insights to develop strategies that support long-term gender equality.
- Collaboration – Partnering with Sport Ireland and other organisations to advance opportunities for women in sport.
Aligning with Sport Ireland’s Women in Sport Policy
Sport Ireland’s policy focuses on Leadership & Governance, Active Participation, Coaching & Officiating, and Visibility—all key areas where PFI is committed to making an impact. National initiatives like Her Moves, Women in Sport Week, and leadership mentoring programs are already driving change, but there’s more work to be done.
Shaping the Future
PFI is dedicated to breaking down barriers, championing female athletes, and fostering a culture where women thrive in padel. By continuing to invest in women’s participation and leadership, the goal is to make gender equality in padel not just an aspiration, but a reality.
