By The Queen of Padel – Sandra Lopez for GoPadel
Last weekend, the courts of Rocket Padel in Bristol came alive with the energy and enthusiasm of seasoned players participating in the Over 50s County Championships. This event, held on April 26-27, 2025, was a testament to the enduring spirit and passion for padel among our more experienced athletes.
Organized by UK Padel, the championships featured a series of competitive matches across men’s, women’s, and mixed categories. The tournament not only showcased the skill and strategy of the players but also highlighted the growing popularity of padel among the over-50s demographic in the UK.
As the Queen of Padel, I have always championed the inclusivity and accessibility of our sport. The Over 50s County Championships exemplify this ethos, providing a platform for players to continue competing and enjoying the game they love, regardless of age.
The success of this event is a clear indication that padel is more than just a sport; it’s a community that welcomes individuals of all ages. The camaraderie, sportsmanship, and sheer joy displayed by the participants were truly inspiring.
Looking ahead, UK Padel has announced the dates for the upcoming County Championships series, including the Over 40s event on June 21-22, 2025, and the Over 60s event on September 6-7, 2025. These tournaments promise to continue the tradition of excellence and inclusivity that the Over 50s Championships have set.
To all the players who participated in the Over 50s County Championships, your dedication and passion are what make padel a sport for all ages. Let’s continue to inspire the next generation and prove that age is just a number when it comes to enjoying the game.
Hopefully we will see those kind of tournaments over here in Ireland very soon, Little Ireland Padel club will be pushing for them.
With pride and admiration,
The Queen of Padel Sandra Lopez
